We are seeking bright, energetic and audience-loving Ushers to join the Front-of-House team for COME ALIVE! The Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular — a spectacular new
Australian touring production blending circus, musical theatre and immersive storytelling
inside and around The Hippodrome.
This is not your standard usher role. We’re looking for all-rounders who love customer
service, learning new skills, and being part of a lively theatrical environment. If you have a
passion for theatre and live events, a genuine interest in the theatre, and enjoy creating
memorable audience experiences — we want to hear from you.

POSITION SUMMARY

As an Usher, you will help bring the world of COME ALIVE! to life from the moment audiences arrive. Working across indoor and outdoor spaces, you will support audience flow, safety and comfort while contributing to the fun, welcoming atmosphere of our immersive experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome guests with warmth, energy and professionalism
  • Scan tickets and manage entry flow efficiently
  • Guide patrons safely to seating in a theatre-in-the-round environment
  • Support audience movement across indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Assist with the immersive pre-show experience and VIP hosting duties
  • Confidently speak with crowds and perform crowd control duties
  • Monitor aisles, exits and public areas during performances
  • Respond calmly and positively to patron enquiries
  • Assist guests with accessibility needs
  • Follow emergency procedures and assist with evacuations if required
  • Maintain presentation standards in line with show dress code and costuming
  • Work collaboratively with FOH Supervisors, Security and Venue Management

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for team members with:

  • A cheerful disposition and a naturally friendly personality
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with crowds
  • A passion for theatre and live events
  • A genuine interest in the theatre and audience experience
  • The ability to remain calm and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Comfort working in a dark theatre environment with stairs typical of a large theatre-n-the-round
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work evenings/weekends
  • Comfort working outdoors in a temporary venue environment
  • Reliability, punctuality and a collaborative mindset
  • Work at least four shifts a week to ensure we have a small and dedicated team
  • Full working rights in Australia

DESIRABLE

  • Previous ushering, events, theatre, stadium or hospitality experience
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience working in immersive or interactive environments
  • Confidence performing light character-based guest engagement

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Casual employment
  • Engagement under the Live Performance Award 2020 (LPA)
  • Usher roles typically classified at Front-of-House Level 2 (subject to duties and experience)
  • Generous penalties and allowances apply in accordance with the Award
  • Rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Paid training provided prior to commencement
  • Opportunities available across one or all tour cities
  • Tour Locations (subject to schedule):
  • Sydney → Perth → Adelaide → Brisbane → Melbourne
